Staff
Chances are, every dentist's website will tell you the staff is well trained and you'll really like them. But we think there are few offices where the staff really gets along so well. The camaraderie in Doctor Hunter's office makes it a pleasure for us to work together. Our patients say that's one of the reasons it's such a pleasure to come here.

That's Doctor Hunter seated up front, surrounded by his capable staff. You can read all about us by scrolling down this page.

Dr. John Hunter

As the son of a career Air Force officer, I was able to see much of the world at a young age. After starting my education in Arlington, VA, I accompanied my family to Tokyo for three years, living in rural Japan. Climbing Mt. Fuji, staying overnight, and watching the sunrise from 12,000 feet the next morning on the rim of the crater is one of my most vivid memories.

We also lived in Bangkok and Alabama before returning to Washington. After graduating from the University of Virginia, I went on to dental school in Richmond, VA, where I won an Air Force scholarship.

After completing a two year advanced dentistry program at the University of Connecticut and three years in the USAF, I returned to Washington to enter private practice.

I've served as an associate professor of advanced post graduate dentistry at Georgetown University Dental School, attended to the dental needs of the U.S. Olympic Basketball Team, and conducted seminars for DC area dentists on best practices for working with HIV+ patients.

Home is in Northwest Washington, where I live with my pet Chow Chow, Lucy.

Troy

I've been working as a Dental Assistant for Doctor Hunter since 1996. I love working with his patients, giving them a comfort and a smile.

Hearing impaired since birth, I'm happy to assist our patients who have hearing difficulties and am proud that our office has a dedicated TDD phone line.

When I'm not working, I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible, gardening, boating, and swimming.

Yolanda

While I've been assisting dentists since 1994, I'm a fairly new member of Doctor Hunter's team, having started with him in 2001. My primary roles are to assist with orthodontics and x-rays.

My pride and joy is my three-year old daughter, Jailyn. If you meet her you'll understand why I spend all my free time with my family.

Chad

When you become a patient, I'll help you schedule your appointments, fill out all necessary forms, and assist with financial arrangements.

More than 10 years ago, after serving as a flight medic in the Air Force, I started working with Dr. Hunter as his dental assistant. That experience helps me understand our patients' needs.

I'm happy to be part of a team that puts a smile on a patient's face.

Sandra

As Dr. Hunter's dental hygienist, my job is to make sure we prevent as many problems before they start as possible, and to spot small problems before they become big problems. Not sure how best to take care of your teeth and gums? I'll show you. Also, I'll make sure our records of your care are up to date.

I've been a hygeniest since 1992, and have a BA in Biology from Florida International University in Miami, FL.

Heather

You'll find me right at the front desk when you enter our office. I'll help you with your appointments and financing (if necessary). My official title is Financial Coordinator, but my job is to make sure everything runs smoothly for you and for Dr. Hunter.

I've worked in a variety of office settings since 1995. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, running, being outdoors, and travel.

Our newest, smallest addition, Rachel Naomi, joined the world on 9/2/03. Mom and our hygienist, Sandra and her husband are delighted with their little bundle of joy and so are we.
